CDFH set up the Equity Derivative and Principle Trading department in CDIB for short-term investments purpose to oversee related business, with the goal to expand the equity business and to enhance performance in short-term investments. The department focus on stable profitability and activate equity business. It started to conduct trading in domestic convertible bonds and Euro-convertible bonds as it further expanded its short-term investment business, in contrast to its past focus to listed stocks. Hedging tools such as stock index options were introduced to enhance risk diversion. New products have been developed in recent years to capitalize on any profitable opportunities through the diversification of products, risks as well as hedging tools. The global equities group also includes proprietary trading, future and derivatives departments at Grand Cathay Securities. To unify equities business and system through functional management and to apply resources through the Holdings, the goal is to approach stable profitability and enhance risk diversion.
