CDFH has also been a keen monitor of environmental issues such as environmental protection, energy conservation. We have endeavored to fulfill our duties as a corporate citizen and repay the society by making donations or physically involving in activities for various causes. In this connection, environmental protection and energy conservation represent important themes in our internal communications as well as operational practices.

In light of aggravating global warming, CDFH has resolved to build the first green data center of Taiwan's financial holding companies in association with IT giant IBM. With the assistance of IBM's global IT service department in Taiwan, the project was successfully completed and the information center was relocated to Nankang in 2008. Power consumption for air-conditioning at the new data center has been 40% to 50% lower on average, as compared to traditional ones. With the help of virtualization and other technologies, power consumption of IT equipment has also reduced by about 30%. Based on the reduction of approximately 0.625 kg of carbon dioxide discharge for 1kw of electricity conserved, the relocation of the data center has set a fine example in energy conservation, reduction in carbon discharge and IT cost savings and allowed us to fulfill our responsibility and commitment to cherish the Earth and protect our immediate environment, while significantly enhancing our IT strengths and scalability.

We are convinced that longstanding commitment to social welfare and fulfillment of duties as a corporate citizen is fundamental to any sound business entity. In future we will continue with active involvement in community welfare and dedicate our best effort to the cause of child development, environmental protection and energy conservation as part of our commitment to repay the society and strive for the well-being of Taiwan.
